Create a more confident school community
Clearer, more consistent communication that builds trust over time.
Schools evolve
over time
Leadership changes, communities shift and priorities become clearer. Internally this is often well understood, but it is not always reflected consistently across signage, communication and everyday materials. Nothing is necessarily wrong, but over time things can begin to feel slightly out of step.
Where this begins to show
How a school communicates shapes how it is seen and trusted by families, staff and the wider community. When communication is clear and consistent, the school feels organised, confident and easier to engage with.
When it is not, the impact is often subtle:
— Messages become harder to follow
— Staff spend more time clarifying information
— Communication becomes less consistent across the school
— The school can be undervalued compared to how it actually operates
Over time, this creates unnecessary friction. This work helps bring greater clarity, consistency and cohesion to the day-to-day experience of the school.
A recent collaboration with Kilkenny Primary
Over the past year, Kilkenny Primary School undertook a careful review and evolution of its visual identity and brand. The school had a clear sense of its values and direction, but this was not consistently reflected across its communication and environment.
The project involved engaging with staff, leadership and community representatives to understand the school’s story and shared values. The resulting identity now supports the school’s renewed purpose and has been implemented across signage, communication materials and digital platforms.

How Brass helps schools
Schools usually need support across several areas. Once these gaps become visible, the work becomes straightforward. Brass Studio supports schools through identity development, signage systems and practical communication tools.
Projects are approached carefully, recognising that schools require consultation, clarity and practical implementation. Most work involves refreshing or evolving an existing identity, with deeper redesign considered only where appropriate.
This is not about starting again. It is about making what already exists easier to use, understand and trust.
-
Clarifying a school’s visual identity so it reflects who the school is today. This can involve refining or evolving an existing identity so it works consistently across signage, documents and digital communication.
-
Designing clear and consistent signage across the school campus, from entry signs and building identification to directional and information signage that helps visitors, families and students navigate the site easily.
-
Developing simple, practical templates for things like newsletters, presentations and documents so staff can communicate clearly while maintaining a consistent school identity.
-
Supporting schools through the practical side of implementation, including auditing existing signage, planning staged rollouts and working with signwriters or printers to ensure everything is produced accurately.
Does any of this feel familiar?
